Can you believe that Lent is already here? Wasn’t it just Christmas?! Well, ready or not, Lent will arrive on Wednesday.

What’s Lent about anyway? Why do we have to get ashes on our heads to kick-off the season? Check out this video from Busted Halo. It offers a quick, to-the-point description of this powerful liturgical season:

Choose Life (Deut 30:19)

Last night we joined the parish community in praising God for the gift of life on the 39th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. St. Paul hosted a five-hour prayer vigil in front of the Blessed Sacrament to praise God for the life He has given us and to pray for the conversion of hearts and an end to abortion. Each hour of the vigil focused on a different phase of life: conception-childhood, youth, adulthood, elderly adulthood, and eternal life. We were invited to lead the second hour of readings, songs, and prayers. Thank you to everyone for your beautiful, prayerful participation! Being able to pray with you is an incredible blessing!

Today we pray for all those who are in Washington, D.C., for the March for Life. We thank the Lord for their witness, and we ask Him to work in the minds and hearts of lawmakers to keep the sanctity of human life at the forefront of all of their decisions.

Life-giving options are available for unplanned pregnancies. Let us continue to pray for all of those who find themselves in difficult situations, may they know they are not alone in their struggles.
